The starting point
What needed to change
Free website audit tools have a structural incentive to produce a confident-looking grade. When a metric is unavailable — no field data, a blocked resource, a redirect chain that ends outside the sampled origin — the common behaviour is to substitute a plausible default and score against it. The resulting report reads well and is quietly wrong, which makes it useless as an input to an engineering plan.
The work
How we found the shape
The engine models every check as a node in an evidence graph, and each node carries the artifact it was derived from. A check that could not execute resolves to an explicit unknown state that propagates into the score as absent coverage rather than as a passing value. Seven lenses run independently — performance, technical SEO, accessibility, security, content, AI discoverability, and visual craft — so a failure in one lens degrades that lens rather than the whole run. Findings are then ranked by measured score gain, so the plan opens with the fix worth the most rather than the fix that is easiest to describe.
What shifted
The difference it made
The audit is the studio's public product wedge. Anyone can run it on a public URL without an account, inspect the evidence behind every finding, and take the ranked plan to another vendor entirely. That is deliberate: the engine is the argument for how Grafiesto works.
